Medicines in Plants: Florida Herbal Fair

Herbal medicines are often used during the past when pharmaceutical companies are not around to manufacture medicines to cure peoples ailments. Our forefathers were bright enough to research the medicinal capabilities of plants to use them to cure sick friends.

One type of herbal medicine is the Lagundi plant. Lagundi plant is an excellent medicine that can cure cough. It is best for adults and children alike. Lagundi plant is the perfect alternative to cure someone who suffers from cough as it does not have any side effects unlike cough medicines. One side effect of taking in cough medicine is drowsiness. Lagundi plants can be boiled in water and contents may be drunk by the patient.

Sambong leaves on the other hand are anti-diuretic meaning it is taken for the relief of urination among people suffering from blocked kidneys. Sambong helps in flushing down easily crystals that had been trapped in the kidney opening to prevent swelling and kidney failure in the long run. Sambong is also a quick relief of groin pain and back pains due to difficulty in urinating.

Malunggay leaves on the other hand are known to help in producing hig levels of milk from a mothers mammary glands. It is an aid in lactation and should be taken by mothers who are breastfeeding their infants. Malunggay can also be boiled on water or cooked as it is. Malunggay leaves can be a bit bitter in taste thus mixing it with sugar or honey is recommended. It can be taken as a tea or a soup.

Ampalaya or bitter gourd is proven to reduce levels of sugar in ones blood stream thus reducing the risks for Diabetes. Although it can also be taken in by a person suffering from Diabetes, Ampalaya or bitter gourd can help stabilize and lower the sugar levels to maintain it in the normal state. - 15437
