Characteristics of Mental Illness

By Dennis Durrel

Our minds are so important, and when something gets in the way of it functioning properly. Mental illness is technically a sickness in your mind. Often, when individuals are afflicted with mental illness, it can be devastating to them and their families.

Although it is disturbing, mental illness is by no means out of the common. In truth, the President's New Freedom Commission has stated that the most ordinary disability is mental illness.

However, that does not mean that mental illness is always so serious that it is impossible for the individual to function. In fact, with proper medication and therapy individuals who suffer from mental illness are often very capable of leading healthy and productive lives.

There are masses of dissimilar categories of mental illness out there, but there are a few that are absolutely more frequent than others. Depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder are three types of mental illness that have the most cases reported. Though, there are another less well-known types of mental illness like amnesia, autism, hysteria, kleptomania, and panic attacks to identify a few.

The most vital factor about mental illness is to have it diagnosed well and to search for psychotherapy. Habitually treatment includes counseling by a licensed psychiatrist, and can be joined with a regiment of recommendation pills. The principal idea to note is that there are greatly effective medically based treatments out there to remedy mental illness. - 15437
