Bridal & Wedding Shower Favors for Friends & Family

By Aaron H.

One of the duties that falls on the shoulders of the maid of honor in preparation for her friend's big day is hosting a bridal or wedding shower. This party is thrown for the purpose of allowing the friends and family of the bride to get together and shower her with gifts that will be needed for her home. In recent years, it has become more traditional to give the bride personal items and lingerie as opposed to household appliances. One thing that the maid of honor should do when she is putting together the party is include some bridal shower favors for each guest and some other wedding shower favors to use as prizes for the various games played during the shower.

Bridal and wedding shower favors are normally small, relatively inexpensive items that are given as "Thank you" gifts to the guests to show the gratitude of the bride and the hostess for them taking the time to attend and bring gifts for the bride. The favors ordered for giving as prizes are usually slightly more expensive than those ordered as gifts for all the guests. The goal is to give the winners something that feels like an award without breaking the bank.

In today's world, couples often have a "Jack & Jill" party where the groom and his friends attend as well. At these parties, the best man often takes on a share of the responsibility for planning and ordering the wedding shower favors given as "Thank you" gifts for the guests or as prizes for the games.

There are many different items available to be given as bridal or wedding shower favors. They are decorated so that they can fit in with different themes and be appropriate for any party whether it is all women or mixed company. No matter how the venue is decorated, there are bridal or wedding shower favors that will fit right in.

Shopping online is often the best way to shop for bridal and wedding shower favors. Most websites carry many more different items than can typically be found in local bridal boutiques or shops because they are not limited to available space on hand to display their items. It is also much less expensive to buy online because the competition for business online is far more intense than that faced by most local bridal shops. This makes it probable that the online stores will have more affordable prices.

Among the duties that fall to the maid of honor is planning and executing the bridal shower, a party where the friends and family members of the bride get together to enjoy one another's company and give the bride some personal gifts that will come in handy when she sets up housekeeping with her new husband. In the event of a "Jack & Jill" shower, the best man may assist in planning and choosing the wedding shower favors. - 15437
