Why Must I Try For A Credit Score Of 700

By Frank Froggatt

It's kind of discomfiting that to the government and other establishments we are known a just a number. The same applies whenever we go down to the bank to apply for a loan or a mortgage if you don't have a score of at least 700 then you don't have a good score, and probabilities are you will run into troubles getting your sought-after money.

But what is a credit score? Creditors use a "credit score" to ascertain your creditworthiness as established by your past history. Credit scores for the most part range from between 340 to 800 and if you score isn't at least around the 700 range you can either reckon on paying a higher rate of interest if it does get approved or if it is too low being refused entirely.

You might think that this is an unjust system but in truth it is the only viable way that a prospective lender can get a feel for who you are and if indeed you are responsible. They pretty much have you over a barrel on this one, it is either you agree to their conditions or you don't get those needed funds.

There are many Americans in the United States who possess good credit scores. The cause of these good credit scores is the basics of not over spending and paying their bill on time.

If you don't have a wonderful credit score then chances are you will need to find another way to get your bills paid and make ends meet.A good idea will be to talk to your creditor about the situation so they can come up with a payment plan so this will never appear on their permanent record. If you've had a reasonable credit score and you don't want to see it destroyed then this is probably the best decision for you.

If you are packing a lot of extra charge cards you should get rid of all of them except for one .. You should keep the one that you have had the longest as this will look good on your credit score.

One mistake some people make especially when their credit history is less than 3 years old is opening a new account even when it is not necessary. Try to use common sense when dealing with credit if you can't afford it don't get it.

If your credit score is just a few points from 700, look at the document and see if everything stated there is correct. Who knows, you might get lucky and find out that there was an error made. If you do find a mistake you must get a hold of the credit agency and let them know about it. This is called filing a dispute. Send them all of the proof of the error so that they can successfully investigate the error and get it corrected for you.

In order to get your credit score you will need to pay for it but you can get your report for free which is all you need to find out if there are any errors. Contact Equifax,Transunion, or Experian for your report, these are the 3 credit bureaus that monitor all reported credit transactions. The way that the different credit bureaus score you differs between each one but all of the information on the reports should be about the same. This changes yearly so get another in one year and compare the results versus the year before..

With the much coveted credit score of 700 or higher you most invariably qualify for the lowest interest rates available. You can use that low interest money in any way you choose be it for schooling, a mortgage, or even home improvements. Achieving this score is not an easy task, it takes dedication and hard work, you can achieve it just be wise and use good judgement.

Don't even ask for a loan if you don't already know what your score is.Being aware of your score will save you any undo embarrassment in the event of issues on your credit report. - 15437
