Placecard Holders - A Wedding Must Have

By Andrea M.

The details involved in planning a wedding can be overwhelming at times. There are so many things that have to happen. Flowers and decorations must be ordered, catering arranged for the reception, a seating chart made up and place cards printed, and something must be ordered to hold the place cards. Placecard holders are a seemingly small detail that can have a serious repercussions if they are absent because that would create a flaw in what should be the most perfect day of a bride's life.

There are a couple of really good reasons to consider a seating chart to be very important. One is that a fairly large number of people will be attending. All are friends or family members of the bride, the groom, or both, yet they may not all get along well enough to tolerate one another's company for an extended length of time. Second is the fact that most caterers will offer a couple of different choices of entre for the guests at dinner and a seating chart makes it easier to match the correct food to the person.

Place cards are an important part of the seating arrangement to ensure that everyone knows where they are to be placed during the dinner. Many people would consider it a little bit tacky to just put the place cards on people's plates to mark the seat they are to take. Also, this would not be sanitary practice given the number of different people who have probably handled the place cards.

Place card holders generally serve multiple purposes at a wedding reception. They are often given to the guests as wedding favors or "Thank you" gifts when they leave. For this reason, place card holders should generally be something nice that the guests would be happy to receive, yet should not be very costly due to the number of them that will be needed.

One example of a placecard holder that could double as a wedding favor is a small photo frame that holds the place card during the reception and can have a wedding photo inserted after they are developed. These frames come in many different styles, some are traditional desk top frames and others are class coasters slotted to hold the place card and wedding photos.

Some couples choose to go with something smaller that will be used as a placecard holder but not considered to be a wedding favor. The variety of small to tiny items that are slotted to hold place cards and designed to fit in with any wedding dcor without standing out greatly is vast. Even though these items are tiny and designed to go more or less unnoticed, there absence would spoil the effect of the day for the bride by detracting from the perfection of her day.

In the grand scheme of things, placecard holders may not seem very important. They are an easily overlooked item in the planning stages, yet they are a very important item. - 15437
