How to Shop for the Perfect Place Card Holders

By Aaron H.

For many couples, planning a wedding involves a mind boggling number of seemingly minor details that, if not handled correctly, can create a huge crisis. Food service for the reception, flowers, and decorations must be ordered, a seating chart must be made up and place cards printed, and something should be ordered that will hold the place cards in place at the tables. One detail that seems minor on the surface, yet can create a total catastrophe if handled in the wrong manner is choosing the perfect place card holders.

Place card holders can be almost any shape, some very staid and traditional, others maybe a little whimsical. They usually fit into the overall dcor at the reception in a very pleasing manner. Sometimes, the placecard holders will also be given to the guests as wedding favors, making it a good idea to choose something a little different.

Many couples find shopping for placecard holders to be an interesting diversion from the larger more involved issues of planning the wedding. Shopping for items that will serve as both place card holders and wedding favors is a better diversion. The couple will want to shop for items that do not appear to be cheap, yet have a very reasonable cost.

One clear example of an item that can serve double duty as a place card holder and a wedding favor that leaps to mind is a small photo frame with the name card inside it. A wedding photo can be given later so that the frame becomes a favor with a photo inside that will always remind the recipient of this wedding. There are several different styles of such frames, from traditional desk top standing frames to glass coasters that one can slide the name card/wedding photo into and can be used in the home of the person receiving them. These types of items being used as placecard holders is a fairly common and practical method of giving wedding favors at the same time.

If the couple wants to have place card holders that serve that purpose only, there are several small to tiny items that are slotted to allow the edge of the place cards to be slid in so that they stand upright on the table, but are not obtrusively noticeable. Of course, the final decision of item is ultimately up to the couple.

In order to see the greatest selection of place card holders before choosing one in particular, online shopping is probably the best way to go. Online stores often have a larger selection at lower prices than the traditional "brick and mortar" bridal shops. Shopping for placecard holders online may take a little longer because of the wider selection, but will be well worth it in the end.

Place card holders are one of those small details that can easily be overlooked when a couple is planning a wedding. Failure to have them can create a minor disaster which becomes major when a bride's special day is less than perfect. Selecting the perfect placecard holders is a joint responsibility shared by the bride and groom that can give them a break from the more arduous tasks associated with planning the wedding. - 15437
