Although I do work full-time and make a somewhat decent living, I still live paycheck to paycheck. Everyday expenses of living are constantly on the rise but my hourly wage is not.
I had heard rumors of secret shoppers - maybe I could make some money that way? To find out what secret shoppers do, I searched online; and found plenty of sites on the subject of secret shopping.
In many cases these web sites offered some information, but went on to tell me I should pay a small fee to register for a service. This would help me find good opportunities to become a mystery shopper.
I was skeptical, of course. Afterall, why should I be paying a fee in order to become a secret shopper and earn some extra cash? It just didn't make sense. Of course, this particular question was answered on every site I did check into and the answer made sense. However, I still didn't think it was fair.
Well, I investigated the reputation of some of these web sites to find which ones were reputable. Finally I payed the fee but I don't quite recall how much - it must have been less than $30.
Once I had decided to pay my fee and become a secret shopper, I then had to register on each and every company site that was now available to me. That entire process took an entire day and was a huge nuisance. It seemed to be entirely too much work for the amount of money I might earn if I was able to become a secret shopper.
I had hoped I would get to shop in clothing stores and keep what I'd purcased. This didn't happen in my case, there were no such opportunities open to me.
Sure, I do live in the countryside but there are several major department stores in the area. All I found was some opportunities to eat meals in a few restaurants and get the meal for free. Well, a free meal is always nice!
I remember I also did make a small amount of money on my secret shopping jobs. However, for the amount of time spent it was hardly worth it (in spite of the free meals) and I do not think I will do this again. - 15437
