Skip Hire - Clean or Dirty?

By Trashy Skipern

I don't know if you have noticed the piles of rubbish that are starting form around our streets and on our roads.

nave people believe it is individuals who drop litter intead of finding abin that are to blame for the majority. However I have found that this is not the case. Upon closer inspection, it seems to be highway users,

However, some blame must go to skip hire trucks who by driving too fast with a skip as cargo cause waste to fall from the skip onto the streets and into the path of minor and major roads. It is really is a problem, especially when litter than affect drivers and how well they perform on the road.

drivers not only have to sweve past a coke can on the road, but may even be temporaliy blinded by a piece of rubbish landing on their windscreen. Imagine a newspaper blocking your vision on the M60 while you are travelling at 90 MPH?

The roads should be clear so drivers can get to where they are going in a safe manner, our streets should be clean to avoid illness and such problems related.

There are many ways to stop this. Attaching a skip net is one way, this will definitely make sure that the skip's contents won't end up where it shouldn't.

Even easier than that, there should be a joint responsibility by skip hirer and truck driver to ensure that the skip is not too full to stop waste flying out of it as soon as the driver puts their foot on the accelerator.

By doing this, it will make it easier for road users as well as keeping our streets clean so people can walk, cycle and drive without having to battle with litter, rubbish and waste flying off skip hire trucks. - 15437
