Things to Remember When Renting a Limousine for Your Sweet 15

By Maricela Rodriguez

Planning a Quinceanera involves a lot of preparation. Sometimes one thing that is overlooked is the travel arrangement. How will you arrive at the church and reception? An option would be to rent a limo. Not only for convenience but elegance and comfort as well. You want to arrive in style at your destination.

To ensure a carefree event and to make the most of your investment, there are several things you need to take note of when renting a limousine and hiring a driver.

Research limousine companies as early as possible especially if your special event occurs on a public holiday or on favorite wedding months in the summer or spring.

When you do your research, ask if they have ample cars available. This is very important. You have to make sure there is another limo available in case the one you order breaks down.

It would be in your best interest to do a background check on the company to check if they are not blacklisted. You can check with the Better Business Bureau. Also, make sure they are licensed.

There are several styles of limos available. If you want to go all out, there are glamorous limos with luxury features by BMW, Hummer, etc. When you choose your limo consider your budget and the necessity.

You should see the limousines interior and exterior in person if possible. If you don't have the time, ask for images of the limos.

There are different colors and sizes of limousines. Be specific when ordering the limo. The size and color you want, the number of passengers, location of the event. Consider the route to your destination; some narrow roads can't accommodate too long or too wide cars.

Make sure the driver understands what time and location you want to be picked up, as well as the return trip.

Check the payment and cancellation procedures. Usually you have to put down a 50% deposit when you make the booking. Ask about the method of payment for the balance. If you have to cancel you might lose part of your deposit.

Ask how many hours are required for rental. Some companies require 2-3 hours rental.

Be prepared to fork out a 20% tip for the driver if it's not already included in the price.

Enquire what complimentary items are offered such as drinks, chocolates, etc.

Inquire about insurance policies. Is it covered in the price?

Before you pay for anything, it is important to have a written contract stating everything included in the price.

Most importantly, discuss about the driver services. Most well-established limousine operators have experienced drivers that know the area very well. Also ask about the driver's attire as well as the personal services like opening the door, etc. All these will greatly enhance your journey and will make your limousine experience worthwhile.

Enquire about the driver's service experience; a luxurious limo is not complete without a driver who is well dressed and courteous.

Before signing any contract, make sure you have read all of the above carefully. - 15437
